Rose-Marie Goodwin (Johnsen, née Svenhard), born in Sweden, came to Canada’s west coast as a child. Creative and artistic in her core, she has an innate sense of colour and has been influenced by the great artists: O’Keeffe, Hopper, Gavazzi, Degas and Caravaggio. When asked what she hopes to instill with her viewers, she says, “With images of dramatic light and colour, I strive to encourage for life’s day to day walk.”
An accomplished colourist, her own style developed in formal training including the Emily Carr and Capilano Universities in Vancouver; Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; select workshops; and painting, painting, painting (Malcom Gladwell’s 10,000 hours).
Rose-Marie has received several awards. Her solo exhibits have included the Bellevue Gallery and the Silk Purse Gallery in West Vancouver. Juries have selected her for numerous Group Shows including the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) Gallery in Vancouver; Sidney Fine Arts Show; Kelowna Art Visions; and Ferry Building Gallery in West Vancouver.
Her work has sold in Canada, Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, Michigan, the Carolinas, Florida, Belgium and Sweden.
