Geometry of Colour
Mosaic Paintings by James Melcher
James designs vibrant mosaic paintings that engage the viewer with a playful, joyous energy. Each work in Geometry of Colour takes about 15 to 20 hours to create – lovingly mixing each paint colour – hand cutting the painted canvas and paper shapes – precision designing with a focus on an overall rhythm and balance of the colours, the geometric shapes, and the spaces in between – carefully gluing down each piece and applying protective varnish are the finishing steps. James has an eye for assembling perfect palettes of colours that create joyful, rhythmic mosaic artwork. Catherine Tse, BC Home magazine.
