“My art comes from two sources.
From a keen love of observation, rooted in the tradition of realist art. Studying from life, observing the magic that the natural world creates through the harmony of form, light, and colour. Understanding how something is the way it is, how it became that way, and how it relates to everything surrounding.
And from imagination, inspired and fed by stories of old and illustrations of eras gone by, mixed with the new and ever changing world. The art I enjoy creating comes somewhere in-between the real world and the veil of the other. Shimmering ideas, and realities never fully realized.
These two methods of creation come together, and inspire me to find magic in what I observe, bridging the science of with limitless imagination. I work with a variety of media to realize what I see. Depending on the subject and the location. I have worked with Gouache, Oil, Watercolour, Graphite, Charcoal, Gold Leaf, Pencil Crayon, sometimes I have gone as far as Fibre Arts, Found Objects and Wax. I love materials that speak for themselves. The richness of pigment, the tactile touch, and the smell are important aspects of creation for me.”
